Ontario Augmented Reality Network

A $360,000 project was recently launched that will have substantial benefits to the Augmented Reality Application (ARA) sector. The Ontario Augmented Reality Network (OARN) project will be headquartered out of nGen's expanded facility, the Generator at one, and will be developed through collaboration between Brock University, local government, and local and provincial interactive digital media companies.

The purpose of OARN is to establish a cohesive community among ARA developers across Ontario. The community will facilitate and encourage collaboration between research and industry. These new partnerships will result in the creation and commercialization of ground-breaking advancements in the rapidly growing ARA marketplace.

The OARN project will produce one conference, nine workshops, an online community for transmission of best practices, comprehensive recommendations for ARA training, several technologies, models and processes, and one database of ARA sector contacts. Through these initiatives, OARN aims to develop an Augmented Reality Application cluster in Ontario.
